Society Awards for Younger Members

Collingwood Prize
Deadline for Application: February 1
Awarded to the author or authors, under 35 years of age, of a paper describing an engineering project with which the author is directly connected, or recording investigations contributing to engineering knowledge to which the author has contributed some essential contributions and which contains a rational digest of results.

Daniel W. Mead Prize for Younger Members
Deadline for Application: February 1
Awarded to the author of a paper on professional ethics.

Younger Member Group Award
Deadline for Application: February 1
Recognizes the most outstanding Younger Member Groups of the previous year.

Edmund Friedman Young Engineer Award
Deadline for Application: February 1
Recognizes a Younger Member who has advanced the profession; exhibited technical competence, high character and integrity; developed improved member attitudes toward the profession; and contributed to public service outside his/her professional careers.

Alfred Noble Award
Deadline for Application: May 1 
Recognizes a published technical paper of exceptional merit whose author is 35 years of age or younger.

Young Government Civil Engineer of the Year
Deadline for Application: February 1
Presented to a young civil engineer who has demonstrated leadership and made significant contributions to public service engineering.

Outstanding Younger Member Group Digital Outreach

The purpose of the Younger Member Group Digital Outreach Award is to promote and encourage Younger Member Groups to host a website and utilize social media to share information and engage with their members.

Younger Member Employer Recognition Award

Awarded to those employers that encourage their young engineers to get involved in ASCE activities.

Younger Member Council Awards

General Criteria

• Deadline for nomination forms: December 5
• Nominees for the individual awards must be current ASCE members. The nominees should be active in their Section or Branch Younger Member Group or active in Section activities in those Sections or Branches that have yet to establish a Younger Member Group. Selection of the award winners will be based primarily upon their accomplishments.
• The time span considered for the award activity during the ASCE fiscal year - October 1 to September 30.
• Younger Members nominated for multiple awards will be considered for the most prestigious award for which they are nominated.
• Active members of Committee on Younger Members shall not be eligible for awards.
• Awards will be presented at the awards banquet during the Younger Member Council Annual Meeting. 

Outstanding Young Civil Engineer in the Private Sector (All Regions) 
Awarded to a Younger Member who has demonstrated leadership potential in private sector civil engineering.

Outstanding Young Civil Engineer in the Public Sector  (All Regions) 
Awarded to a Younger Member who has demonstrated leadership potential in public sector civil engineering.

Outstanding Younger Member Group Project (All Regions) 
Awarded for a Younger Member Group project that had a favorable and measurable impact on the community.

Outstanding Younger Member in Community Activities (All Regions) 
Awarded to a Younger Member who has demonstrated outstanding leadership and participation in community service.

Peers Group Award  (Eastern Region only) 
Awarded to an Outstanding Younger Member Group, as judged by all Younger Member Groups in the Eastern Region 

Outstanding Younger Member in Government Relations  (Eastern Region only) 

Outstanding Practitioner Advisor  (Eastern and Central Regions) 
Awarded to a Younger Member who has demonstrated outstanding support for a Student Chapter.

Outstanding Support of a Student Chapter  (Western Region only)  
Awarded to a Younger Member Group that has demonstrated outstanding support for one or more Student Chapters.

Outstanding Younger Member in ASCE Activities  (Western Region only) 
Awarded to a Younger Member who has demonstrated leadership in ASCE activities.
